Private Instruction:

What to expect during that first lesson.  During your lesson, students are asked to play a selection of music of their choice.  That is a good time for the teacher to get a sense of the student's current abilities. With this information we can begin to tailor a plan that suitable for each student.

Audition Prep:

Students coming specifically for audition preparation should have most of their music prepared in advance.  This is an opportunity to play for a different set of ears and get feedback.  Once or twice per year, Frederick Community College also hosts audition clinics for Frederick All-County Orchestras and Maryland All-State Orchestras.

Instrument Selection and Set-Up:

Working directly with students, in choosing their next instrument.  Having worked in a violin shop and a general music store, Mr. Diggs has vast knowledge of instrument options, bow options, strings, and other violin and viola related accessories.  He believes in searching for the best instrument in each student's current price range and is available to travel to area violin shop to help in your search.

Beginning Group Options:

These are classes offer to students who have never played before and would like to learn in a group setting.  A great option for families and groups of friends to learn together.

Suzuki Groups:

These groups are for students that are specifically interested in the Suzuki Violin Method. More information can be found in the Suzuki Section

Viola Ensemble:

Viola Ensemble is for violist of all ages.  Students must be able to read music and be able to play 'Minuet 1" from Suzuki book one to participate in this ensemble.  The ensemble performs music ranging from beginner to advanced levels.  Mr. Diggs also performs alongside the students in the ensemble. This is a great opportunity for viola players to play arrangements and original compositions for small and large ensemble.

Performances:

Performances are celebrations of your current success.  You've been working hard to work on that new technique.  You've finally mastered that tricky spot.  Now come and share with studio.  Performances help set goals for students.  When you know you will be presenting something, you work just a little harder to polish your work.  Here in the studio everyone performs, even Mr. Diggs.  Sometimes getting stage for a surprise performance during studio recital or separate faculty recital.
